Why are TON explorers needed?
Today we want to expand your knowledge of cybersecurity and tell you about TON wallet address explorers
What is an explorer?
A blockchain explorer (also known as a block explorer) is a tool for viewing all cryptocurrency transactions on the network.
Simply using your web browser to visit a blockchain browser website, you can analyze any address in the TON blockchain: find out its balance, see the number of incoming and outgoing transactions, the volume of transfers, etc.
How can this be useful?
Most active member of the community will want to learn to analyze wallets and draw conclusions. This can be useful in a number of cases.
Example 1:
Let's say you've discovered a staking pool that promises high returns. Before transferring money to the pool wallet, you should look at its address in the explorer and pay attention to the following indicators:
How long has the wallet been in existence?
What is its balance?
How many incoming transactions?
How often do Toncoins arrive in the wallet from other addresses? At an average of once per minute? Or once a day?
What amounts does this wallet operate in general?
If you see that the address was created quite recently, the number of incoming transfers is small, and the total turnover of Toncoin is also low, there is reason to believe that you are facing scammers.
As a rule, the wallets of really large and popular staking pools, wrap large amounts of Toncoin and you will almost certainly see a lot of incoming transactions.
Example 2:
Let's say you want to purchase a TON-based NFT collection item.
The creators of the NFT project assure that they sold more than 1,000 tokens at the first pre-sale for a total of 100,000 Toncoins (100 Toncoins per NFT).
In this case, you should analyze the wallet where it is proposed to transfer funds.
Pay attention to when and in what volume the coins arrived at this address.
If a large number of incoming transactions are indeed recorded on the dates of the presale with 100 Toncoin each and the total amount of transfers reaches 100,000 Toncoin - we can conclude that the owners of the collection are not trying to deceive you (at least in this episode). And it can also definitely be concluded that the collection is popular.
If you see a very small number of translations, then the conclusion is obvious: the collection is unpopular, and its creators are misleading you.
We would like to note that the number of transactions in itself does not directly indicate the reliability of the service, but it can indicate its popularity, as well as the honesty of the statements of its developers.
This method of analysis is not universal.
For example, if you want to replenish your Toncoin balance in Wallet, Cryptobot or TON Rocket, then the above principle may mislead you, since these services create a new wallet for each user to deposit funds.
After analyzing such an address, you will see zero incoming transactions - but there is nothing suspicious in this, since these are the principles of operation of such depositary wallets.
Conclusion:
We strongly recommend that every TON blockchain user verify recipient addresses before transferring funds to unknown wallet owners.
And although the explorer cannot definitely confirm the trustworthiness of the owner of the wallet, based on the analysis, you can draw certain conclusions.
