The Safest Telegram Wallet: TonRocket
And how it works together with the safest TON mobile wallet: TonSafe
A problem faced by custodial wallets, meaning those that you alone do not hold the keys for, is that users of such wallets face real risks: what happens if the wallet owner, who holds the keys and your funds, takes off into the night?
Or, what happens, if, as with all the Telegram wallets (Wallet, Crypto Bot and TON Rocket) your Telegram account is deleted, or access lost? This is exactly what has happened to a user of Crypto Bot, even through a possible bug in Telegram, with the result that they lost access to all their funds in Crypto Bot.
Such wallets will tell you that they have no way to (or no policy for) assisting users in such a predicament: as the users cannot prove to them ownership of the previous Telegram account. Even if you can prove it, they βhave no policyβ.
TON Rocket to the rescue
In comes TON Rocket wallet bot to the rescue! Now, after TonSafeβs lead tester raised this issue with TON Rocket recently, he was informed that not only would TON Rocket assist users in such a situation, if they could prove ownership of the lost or deleted Telegram account, but would be allowing users to safeguard against such situations by linking a non-custodial wallet.
And today, TON Rocket implemented this feature, and we were able to test it ourselves together with the TonSafe mobile TON wallet app.
TON Rocket has around 100k users, and is the only Telegram wallet which allows receipt of many TON tokens, in addition to the Toncoin token, to be stored and even traded. Likewise, all tokens from the TON blockchain, can easily be received, stored and sent from TonSafe.
Here is how to do it, and it is very simple: open your TON Rocket and select Wallet from the menu then tap on βConnect walletβ and after reading the next screen continue by tapping on βConnect walletβ.
You will see 3 methods currently offered: Tonhub, Tonkeeper and βBy the addressβ. Obviously those with Tonhub wallets should select Tonhub, and Tonkeeper wallet users should select Tonkeeper. But what about TonSafe?
If you have a TonSafe wallet you have actually several options:
First, the option that doesnβt require sending any coins, but which requires you have two devices: tap on Tonhub and then scan the QR code with your TonSafe (top right corner of TonSafe). This will give you the option to connect TON Rocket and after being successful, you will find your TonSafe wallet address listed in Connected Wallets within TON Rocket, as well as TON Rocket listed in TonSafe Settings in the βConnected appsβ menu.
The second method which you can do with only your mobile phone, would be to select βBy the addressβ and then either scan the QR code there or tap on the βOpen walletβ button and then βYesβ to continue to the link, and at the βOpen in TonSafe?β select Yes. You will then have the required 0.1 TON transfer open in TonSafe together with the required Message, which is the code which tells TON Rocket to match this payment with your wallet.
Although this method requires 0.1 TON to send, it is essentially free, minus the tiny TON blockchain fee of around 0.005 TON.
Itβs nice to see all this innovation in TON Wallets making it easier for the general public to make fast, easy and safe payments using TON.
